What are the types of powder coating?

The two types of powder coating are thermoplastics and thermosets. When heated, thermoplastic powder coating finishes become liquid and soft, eliminating chemical bonding. As such, this makes thermoplastic powder coating reversible and reusable.

On the other hand, thermoset powder coating is irreversible as it creates chemical bonds when cured. Thermoset coatings are more suitable for intense heat as the chemical bonds prevent melting, and are cheaper than thermoplastics.
